Deck post holes must extend below the local frost line and be at minimum 12 inches in diameter. Use fast-setting concrete for one bag per hole. A typical 4×4 post in a 12-in diameter × 24-in deep hole uses about one 50lb bag of concrete. For 6×6 posts, use 16-in diameter holes and two 50lb bags.
