Footings must extend below the frost line (typically 12–48 inches depending on climate). Use 3,000–4,000 PSI concrete and reinforce with horizontal rebar (#4 bars minimum). Width should be at least twice the wall thickness. Allow 7 days of curing before loading. A 20-ft footing at 8-in wide × 8-in deep needs about 0.8 cubic yards.
